Nehru Yuva Kendra – Sports Ministry, Govt. of India & Nandkishore Cultural Society jointly organized an award ceremony to felicitate women who have displayed exemplary dedication in their respective fields on the occasion of International Women’s Day. On behalf of the Govt. of India, the event was organized at Nandkishore Cultural Society, Nigdi and awardees were honoured with trophy and certificates. This was the 11th year of the celebrations and up till now 500 women have been felicitated with this award.
This year, fourteen women were felicitated across various fields;Vasudha Vadke(art),Sushma Joglekar(vocal),Dr Radhika Shah(physician),Anjana Sonawane,Aruna Deuskar,Chandbe Sayyad(education),Vrunda Sonawane,Sayujata Dodke,Suhasini Yewalekar,Indumati waghmare,Shailaja Pawar,Kamal Thigale(Socialwork),Arti Shinde,Hullas Chedha.
The chief guest and dignitaries at the event were Mayor of Pimpri-Chinchwad, Rahul Jadhav, Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra – Yashwant Mankhedkar, Corporator – Suman Pawale, Ex-Corporator – Sulbha Ubale, Corporator – Uttam Kendale , Corporator – Sachin Chikale and Kathak Exponent Dr. Pt. Nandkishore Kapote. At the event Mayor Rahul Jadhav appreciated the efforts and dedication of Dr. Kapote and said, “ We highly appreciate that this event has been organized annually for the past 11 years without missing a year in-between.” On behalf of the awardees, Indumati Waghmare said, “Due to Dr. Kapote we have had the good fortune to be felicitated with this award and it motivates us to do more and better in the future”. Yashwant Mankhedkar added, “Dr. Kapote continues to carry out social work through dance and has spent his entire life in the service of the dance form. On behalf of the Govt. of India, we will assist in these efforts.” The anchoring for the event was done by Shobha Kulkarni.
