Pune : Pune branch of WIRC of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) bagged two national & two regional level awards recently. Pune branch of WIRC of ICAI won the second best branch of ICAI & Pune branch of Western India CA Students Association (WICASA) of ICAI won the first best branch of WICASA. The Western India Regional Council (WIRC) of ICAI has also acknowledged the performance of Pune ICAI by awarding them two first prizes, best branch of WIRC & best branch of WICASA under mega branch category at Regional level.
The ICAI on national level and the WIRC on regional level every year award its branches acknowledging and encouraging their best performances during the calendar year, as per the set criteria. Amongst the 10 award winning branches, the performance of the Pune Branch of ICAI & WICASA for 2018 calendar year achieved 99 % & 100 % marks against the set criteria of ICAI, and bagged the award of the second best branch of ICAI & first best branch of WICASA respectively by the hands of the Comptroller & Auditor General of India Shri. Rajiv Mehrishi at the award distribution function held recently in New Delhi.
At the regional level as per the set criteria of WIRC Pune Branch was successful in getting 100% marks, and thus won the first prize of the best branch as well as first prize of WICASA- Students’ Associations section in mega branches’ category. The awards were distributed in the WIRC ceremony held in Mumbai recently. These FOUR awards were bagged by Pune Branch under the leadership of CA Anand R Jakhotiya, Chairman-2018-2019.It was very difficult task to achieve four awards at one go. This is the second time to achieve four prestigious awards in the history of 57 years of Pune branch.
ICAI is a statutory body established under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 (Act No. XXXVIII of 1949) for the regulation of the profession of Chartered Accountants in India. ICAI in its 70 years of service to the industry and Nation, has achieved recognition as a premier accounting body not only in the country but also globally, for its contribution in the field of education, professional development and maintenance of high accounting, auditing and ethical standards. Globally, ICAI is the second largest accounting body.
The ICAI is governed by the Central Council comprised of 40 council members of which 32 are elected CA Members representing the five zones (viz. Eastern, Central and Northern, Southern, and Western) and 8 nominees of Government of India. ICAI has 163 branches spread all over India and abroad. Pune Branch of ICAI is the third largest branch of ICAI and currently catering services to 8,000 CA members and 22,000+ CA students.
CA Anand Jakhotia stated that through a well-planned and effectively implemented performance in all the relative areas like programs / events on national, regional as well local levels for CA Members & Students, women CA empowerment programs/events, contributing to ICAI Committees for Taxation through constructive suggestions for pre & post union budget provisions, various exposure drafts, as well upgrading of the Branch administration etc. fetched in this credentials.
He expressed his thanks Pune ICAI Managing Committee members, Central Council Member and Regional Council Members, all the sub-committees’ members, all the CA members in Pune, eminent speakers, faculties, Pune Branch staff & executives for their constructive guidance and support. CA Rajesh Agrawal & other Managing Committee Members, their whole team of volunteers for the best efforts put throughout the year, he added.
