SIFT Students Win Hearts With ‘Walk For Khadi’ Themed Fashion Show
Pune: ‘Walk for Khadi’ an unique fashion show witnessed at Suryadatta Institute of Fashion Technology. La Classe- 9th Annual Runway Fashion Show organized at Bavdhan campus of Suryadatta Group of Institutes with the theme ‘Walk For Khadi- The Nation’s Pride’ as a initiative to give back the glory that Khadi fabric deserves. Khadi gets back the glamour it deserves, mentioned Namita Kohok, 1st Indian Cancer Survivor and winner of Mrs Global United at USA.
With the central theme ‘The Journey of Khadi Fabric- from India to the World’ Students of the Fashion Design Degree Program displayed their creativity by designing and stitching garments under various themes. With the inspirations from subjects like technology, kaleidoscope, symmetry, drapes, art movements, frames and Sacred games web series, students of SIFT worked really hard and created a range of unique garments to portray the myriad ways in which Khadi fabric has evolved over the times and gave tribute to the great propagator of the khadi fabric, Mahatma Gandhi in the year of his 150th Birth Anniversary. The fashion show propagated through various exciting rounds like Draped Drama, Khadi Metric, Psychedelic Khadi, Dual World, Framing Love, Techno Mode and Khadi-ism to the end.
Every year, ‘La Classe’ is conducted in an exhilarating atmosphere full of glamour and glitter. Dozens of Celebrity Models from tinsel town Mumbai showcase the apparel designed and stitched by the students of SIFT. Models like Alesia Raut, Sonal Chauhan, Amaani Satrala, Priyasha Choudhary and many more walked the ramp for the Fashion Show. The main attraction of the show was the finale for which Mrs Global United 2017, Namita Kohok wore a beautiful Khadi outfit designed by SIFT.
The jury for the show included prominent personalities like renowned Indian fashion designer Mr. Sandesh Navlakha, famous anchor Ms. Shilpa Bhende, Ms. Anuja Shinde and the Vice President of Suryadatta Group, Mrs Sushama Chordiya. It was directed by Mr. Vishhal Saawaant, an eminent young fashion choreographer, fashion stylist and model coordinator in the glamour industry with multiple talents and a perfect blend of attitude, versatility and experience.
The Chairman of Suryadatta Institute, Prof. Dr. S.B Chordiya gave students a platform to showcase their talent and also create awareness about the use of this eco friendly, hand spun and hand woven Khadi fabric. Until now khadi fabric was used for making garments like kurtas, sarees, shirts etc but through this initiative SIFT would like to escalate khadi to an International level, where Khadi will be used as a luxurious and elegance fabric from Ready to wear to couture.
